Deer Resistant Mountain Garden

I designed this garden through HLD Landscape Architecture. The photos here show the garden the second spring after planting.

A mature Live Oak tree frames the view to the rear patio. Drought tolerant hillside plantings include Ceanothus 'Julia Phelps', Cistus purpureus, Salvia clevlandii, and Rosmary.

Arizona flagstone staircase meanders up the hillside with Ceanothus 'Yankee Point' groundcover and Salvia clevlandii. In the background, deer resistant Ceanothus 'Julia Phelps' blooms with deep blue flowers in spring.

Drought tolerant and deer-resistant hillside planting in the front yard includes Cistus purpureus, Lavender, Salvia 'Bees Bliss', Westringea fruticosa, and Ceanothus 'Julia Phelps'

This habitat garden attracts birds, native bees, butterflies, and humminbirds and is presided over by a mature California Live Oak tree.

A mortarless stacked keystone retaining wall system provides terraces for planting, including verbena 'Tapien Blue', Coleonema pulchrum, and Westringea.
