Sunny Dry Creek

The lawn was removed from the front yard of this Tudor-styled Palo Alto home and a new California native plant garden captures all front yard rainwater while allowing for dry summers. A new Western Redbud tree was added to serve as a focal point near the front door. A carpet of Groundcover Manzanita and Groundcover Coyote Bush form a green backdrop for accent plants which bloom in different seasons such as California Fuchsia, Sulfur Buckwheat, and California Buckwheat. The garden provides habitat for pollinators including birds, hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. An espaliered island snapdragon softens a fence along the side of the garden.
