A home remodel at this Willow Glen Residence left a vacant rear yard space with rainwater puddling. The renovation created an opportunity to capture rainwater from three downspouts on the house and garage into a newly-designed rainwater garden swale, installed in 2018. The swale is excavated with three areas of deep drainrock for percolation.
A concrete block curved seat forms an edge to a new interlocking pavingstone patio with sweeping curves that flow into a pathway. On the path, a custom designed wood bridge spans over the rainwater swale. At the rear of the yard, a metal and canvas gazebo allows for relaxed seating. Three vegetable beds and three new citrus trees combine with low water plantings such as Lavender, California Fuchsia, Autumn Sage, and Lantana.
